Gazette Suites - On Commerce

Proximity to shops, drinks and dining couldn't have been better. Place was very clean, bed was comfortable, all the necessary items in the kitchen.
Would 100% stay here again.

Immaculate space with nearly every detail perfect. Beds are temperpedic and were very comfortable for someone with fibromyalgia. Kitchen had everything needed for cooking. I would have used a hot water kettle, but using a pan was fine.

There are only 2 king size beds. I did find a blow up mattress in the closet at the end of our stay, but the only space it would fit would be the living room area. 4 people can stay comfortably if they can sleep in 2 beds. The unit was very quiet and soundproof. Loved having a code so everyone could come and go easily.

The stairs to get to the second floor are steep and it's a big staircase so that should be factored in when considering this rental. There were enough towels but definitely not extra, so you may want to bring your own, especially if you want your own hand/face towel.

It was nice to have a dedicated parking spot, but there is only one about a block away. You can walk across the grass past the public bathroom building directly to it. We met up in Galena and had multiple cars, so parking the first day was a problem. But in the evening, spots open up in front of the building and you can leave your car on the same side of the street as the building (3 hour limit during the day on other side).

All in all, we loved this rental and would stay again.

We had a wonderful stay at Gazette Suites on Commerce during our girls' trip to Galena. It was modern, clean, comfortable and exactly as described. The location could not have been better to relax or walk anywhere you wanted to - Main Street, Restaurants, the Trolley Tour (definitely do this) the Park, Shopping, etc. It was perfect. The correspondence with the property managers was excellent. Would definitely recommend to anyone.

Hubs and I stayed for 3 nights for an anniversary getaway. This space was perfect for us. Location is ideal for shopping, dining, sightseeing. Walked to Grant Park and then later walked on River Trail. Beds are comfy, kitchen has all you need for cooking, but bring your own spices, oils, condiments as there are none. If you have trouble with stairs, take note there are 20 steps in a narrow,but well lit, hallway to get to unit. Reserved parking spot was close if no street parking available. Only downside to this unit is there is no outside space to chill but that is just something we prefer. Would not stop us from staying again, great spot.

We had such a good time. We needed to call for instructions and they were so helpful. So close to all eating places and shopping. If you have trouble with stairs this place is not for you but it was great for our sister trip.

We loved this place! Well appointed, clean, modern. Quiet! Just off of Main Street, tons of shops and restaurants just steps away. We explored to our hearts' content, then came back to the comfort of our suite. Would definitely stay here again!

Family members from Chicago and St. Louis met in Galena for a few summer days. Very enjoyable and happy time. And the property managers and staff were incredibly responsive and helpful to us.

We, 2 couples, stayed for 3 nights. What an amazing place!
Modern, Open concept, with a fully stocked kitchen. From crock pot to toaster to baking pans .... It was all there.
The proximity to Main St and all the shops and restaurants is so convenient.
2 bedrooms, one of them an on-suite.
We were hugely impressed by the cleanliness! Check in and check out was easy.

Only cons: very steep stairs up to the apartment.

This 2 bed, 2 bath apartment is amazing! It has high ceilings, very well insulated from outside noise. The bedrooms are a good size an I oive they were on opposite sides of the communal living area. Parking was super convenient and the home is located so close to all the restaurants and shops! The rental manager was very responsive. My only advice would be additional wash clothes for facial cleaning.

I stayed at the Gazette Suites On Commerce and had an amazing time in Galena. The location of the suite was absolutely perfect for touring downtown Galena. Everything was within walking distance, which is great because parking is difficult. Thankfully they have a reserved parking spot for you when you stay. The suite was beautifully decorated and clean. Can't wait to stay again!

We stayed at the Gazette Suites On Commerce for a girl's night and couldn't ask for a better location being right downtown! The kitchen and living area are very spacious and work great to have conversations or play games. We didn't cook as we took advantage of the restaurants, coffee shops and bars! But they had everything available if we decided to stay in. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable! There were extra pillows and blankets available if we needed them. The space was neat, clean, and well thought out! I would recommend to any of my girlfriends for a weekend away, or a couples weekend! I plan to return as soon as possible! :)

I stayed at Gazette Suites On Commerce with 3 of my girlfriends. It was AMAZING! The location was prime: so close to all the shops and restaurants - literally less than a block away from all our favorites! The place was BRAND NEW, cozy, clean, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The Keurig coffee maker and provided K-cups was a great perk, and so nice to wake up with a cup of coffee without having to go to the store. The parking spot that came with the rental was conveniently located, and it was so great not to have to search for a parking spot on a busy weekend in downtown Galena. We are excited to stay here again for our next girls getaway!

Location, location, location! This property is placed perfectly in the heart of downtown Galena- tons of restaurants, bars & shops/boutiques surrounding us! Once we parked our car in the reserved parking spot (a necessity for downtown Galena) we didn’t need to go back to it until we were leaving town. Everywhere was an easy walk, even with unseasonably cold temps!The area is extremely safe, but we did appreciate having a code to get into the building from the street, as well as into the unit from the hallway (it was very simple, and we never had issues with it). The condo was very clean and beautifully decorated. The owners thought of everything and included many items that other rental properties lack, like having reed infusers, bathroom sprays, a Kerig WITH coffee K-cups, hair dryers, charging stations, extra blankets/pillows and even an extra cooling fan (the ceiling ones worked just fine for us!).We were there for a girl's weekend and would suggest making reservations at Fried Green Tomatoes! Charlie’s was a wonderful breakfast spot (huge portions), Gobbies was also delicious, they have a stuffed (Chicago style) pizza that they serve with salad and “beer nuggets”, which were all amazing! We couldn’t eat it all, but it was a quick walk back to the property to put it in the fridge before bar hopping. Of course, the pizza was a nice treat to come home to at the end of the night ;)There is SO much to do in downtown Galena, we didn’t even touch the surface! We will definitely be back and wouldn’t want to stay anywhere else!
