Bayward Lodge

Another wonderful family weekend at the Bayward Lodge. 7 adults and this place has plenty of room to spread out and come together in the great room. We all voted to come back next year! Fabulous home!

Clean, modern, quiet—-wonderful home! We enjoyed grilling, a cozy indoor fire during the rain storm, playing pool & pac man, and hot tubbing under the stars.

Family getaway. Plenty of room. Screened in porch. So many windows and outdoor spaces. Location perfect for golf and hiking. Loved it!

We had a wonderful experience! Would love to stay again in the future!

We just stayed at Bayward Lodge for the ninth time since 2018. We always enjoy staying there...very comfortable!

We picked Bayward Lodge for a getaway weekend with friends - Galena was a central meeting place for our group. The place was absolutely beautiful and checked all of our boxes: nice view, 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, gameroom, kitchen, etc. We could not have asked for anything better. The house was very clean and the kitchen well stocked with dishes, utensils, etc. The beds were comfortable with the exception of the one in the basement that as a sag in the middle. The roads to get there are curvy and narrow, but we appreciate being out of the city and away from noise and traffic! We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to anyone!

Our family of 6 had an excellent time at Bayward Lodge! The Lodge comes with many utensils, a fully stocked kitchen and was well kept. You are truly away from everything, and the night skies are dark and lovely. We like a vacation where we can just hang out together and relax, and we found that at Bayward Lodge.

Stayed with 2 other couples for a weekend getaway. We stayed at this house several years ago, and it has really gone downhill. Paint is peeling off the walls and ceilings. Obvious that water is somehow getting into the walls. The towels that were "clean" and ready for us smelled horrible. And the house just wasn't clean. Very obvious that under tables and chairs it doesn't get cleaned either often or very well. Also the king bed in the lower bedroom needs to have the mattress replaced. Woke up sore every morning. Property was accurately described, but the house needs some serious updates and we would not stay here again.

This was a great place to stay for our annual mid-week outing. We spent a day in Galena and another in Dubuque seeing the sights and dining. But the lodge provided a wonderful place to share in conversation - plus, we used all the special features of the lodge, e.g. hot tub, pool table and outdoor fireplace.

We had a wonderful time. The house was clean and nicely decorated and provided a very comfortable backdrop for our time together.

There was plenty of living space for our group. We cooked every meal and were grateful for the fully stocked kitchen. We were also happy we found a crockpot! The owner's club amenities were excellent as well!

The property was very nice, clean, beds comfortable, loved the back porch- we watched the woodland critters in the field behind and enjoyed the day. Very quite area, houses are far enough away from each other that we didn't hear anything from them. Only thing that I would of changed was getting some local channels on the cable box, we like to watch the news.

Rated 4 for general condition due to sliding doors only had 1/2 the blinds. Could have used more guest towels, 2 trash cans are not enough for 8 guests for a 2 night stay. Coffee table in lower level rec room was wobbly. Pockets on pool table were broken. Outside porch steps could be replaced

Great weekend at this house in Galena Territory. House was perfect for our group, as described clean and well kept. Location was good too, as this was closer to town via Stagecoach.

We had a small guys weekend retreat and the house was very nice. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The game room/pool table were great for some fun and games during the cold weather days. The hot tub was great and we used it daily. Location was nice, close enough to downtown Galena it was easy to get over for a lunch or dinner out.

We had a great time - plenty of room for everyone to sprawl out. Kitchen had everything we needed. Only minutes from everything!!!

The home was better than we imagined! We had plenty of space for everyone, the hot tub was very relaxing after a day of skiing. Close to the falls and approximately 15 minutes from downtown. Would definitely visit again.

Every year we meet our adult children in Galena for our holiday celebration...we’ve had to switch houses because of our growing family and we loved this house! We will be back again next year! The rooms were the perfect size, loved all the natural light and wood fireplace. House was clean and well kept. Definitely recommend!

Iowa, Wisconsin & Illinios warm weather celebration of what used to be Harrowing drive to SUX in ice & snow. We are all in our seventies so king bed and private heads were ideal. Galena is great for culture, shopping and golf. Walking trails would have been nice to avoid the traffic!

Lots to see and do hot tub was great wonderful house

I have to admit, I was beyond thrilled when I walked into this house. It was bigger and better than I had expected, as the basement had a huge living room area, two separate bedrooms and a full bathroom and laundry room. There was a bee problem when we first got there but it was handled swiftly, having people come out and spray right away. We spent a lot of time in the screened in porch, eating lots of meals there. All of the rooms were huge and the beds were extremely comfortable. There was plenty of room outside for the kids to run around as well. And it's only a little over a 10 minute drive to downtown Galena. I would definitely stay here again - thank you for the hospitality.

Nice home for our family stay. The beds are very comfy and the house was clean. We had plenty of room to spread out and relax. As mentioned in previous reviews, the blinds are broken in the living room and the ice maker does not work. I would definitely recommend bringing anything you might need in the kitchen such as tin foil, plastic wrap, Keurig cups, if you want to use that coffee maker, a few ice trays and some salt and pepper. Nothing we urgently needed but worth mentioning. We would definitely stay in this nice house again.

We stayed with 2 other couples so the bedrooms worked perfectly for us. Everything was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the hot tub and the deck off the west side. The game room was really nice too. Very quiet and nicely kept yard. Would definitely stay here again.

This is our 2nd or 3rd time returning to Bayward House. We love that each couple can have their own King bed. We played games, sat outside and took a hike right from the house. This house is so well taken care of from the cleanliness to the linens and well stocked kitchen. We cant wait to come back in Summer or Fall!

This is truly a wonderful house! The layout is so ideal and spacious. When we walked in we could smell how clean it was. So many amenities from the hot tub to the awesome wall mounted video games. We were very comfortable here and will be returning!

Had a great getaway weekend with 2 other couples. This home was ideal for all of us to have our private space and spend time with one another in the family room and kitchen.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was very clean, the pool table and arcade were a hit, and we really enjoyed the hot tub. Loved the pretty views and location.

Bayward lodge was perfect for our family of 5 to getaway over NY. The house was clean and well maintained. It seemed that carpet had been recently replaced. It's great to find a house with 3 king rooms, and the beds were comfortable too. Lots of outdoor space for kids to play in the snow.

We loved BayWard Lodge! We rent a home for Thanksgiving vacation so that our entire family can gather together and this home was perfect! Plenty of bedroom space, bathrooms, and the living space allowed us all to spread out as needed. The kitchen had lots of plates, glassware and silverware. The cookware and utensils were good but we always pack most of our own cookware and serving utensils, respect when planning a large meal like Thanksgiving dinner.
The home was clean and inviting and the kids (of all ages) really enjoyed the pool table and Pacman game!

Everything was as expected and clean! Only problem was the hot tub wasnt heating up, tried contacting someone but didnt really get anywhere.

Hot tub wasn't above 85, but overall the 6 of us had a
good time. Dish TV didn't have ESPN without an add'l subscription.

This is the second time I’ve stayed in Galena with my friends and we couldn’t be happier. The property is absolutely beautiful and accommodating for the six people we had . The views and drive out there is so peaceful.

Nice home and great location. Liked the layout of the home. It was very clean and comfy. Would have like to have window coverings on the dining area windows since they are ground level and the porch goes along that window. King of spooky at night. The blinds on the sliding door in the living area upstairs did not close all the way. Also no window coverings on the side windows there as well. The kitchen was a little lacking in supplies. No cookie sheets/pans, no larger mixing bowls, no pitchers to use for beverages, etc. Could use more utensils/supplies in the kitchen for those guests that do a lot of cooking/baking during their stay. The hot tub would not heat up to correct temp, so did not get to use during our stay. The coffee pot is extremely slow in brewing. Took over half hour to brew 1 10 to 12 cup pot. Should only take a few minutes. Would possibly stay again if these things in fixed or improved.

This place met the needs of our family. I was disapointed with the torn screen on the screened in porch flapping in the breeze and the deck on the grill side that was pulled apart in the corner and did not appear safe. The outside property was very overgrown, hard to walk up the sidewalk and lots of weeds. Inside had everything that we needed and provided a comfortable stay.

We needed a place for a couple days in the Galena area and this was perfect! Country setting... we enjoyed the quiet walks and the home was clean and well kept.

Great cabin feel, comfortable beds, love the hot tub, beautiful views and very quiet. Kids loved the hot tub, pool table and video games. Quick drive to downtown Galena. I highly recommend this rental. We will rent this one again.

It was a wonderful weekend with three couples at the Bayward Lodge. The house is layout that three couples were very comfortable. Every couple had their own bedroom & bathroom. Love the Pacman machine downstairs near the Pool Table. It was great playing cards on the table in the kitchen til the ween hours. We were able to see two Bald Eagles on our stay there. We enjoyed sitting on the deck since we had a nice warm weekend.
We were able to walk down to the lake from the house. Amazing View. Sitting in the hottub at night; the stars are just unbelievable. We plan on going back soon. Thank you Bayward for the memory with Dear Friends.

We wanted a secluded space to unwind with another couple from out of state... enjoy good food, good conversation, and amazing sunrises/sunsets! This home did not disappoint Each room comes equipped with a king bed and a full bath. The home is solid and quiet - we were able to enjoy solitude as needed, then congregate when the time was right. Lovely experience.

Great home for our family's pre-Christmas getaway. Spacious, clean and comfortable for adults and grand children. We are already looking for return dates. Property Manager, Linda, was terrific. With colder weather, she had staff visit 4 times to ensure the hot tub was working properly so we could enjoy it throughout our stay. We will definitely be returning to Vacation Homes of Galena by A Great Escape. They are the best.

My husband and I have stayed at several rental houses in Galena and this house and company (Vacation Home Rentals by A Great Escape) are by far the best. We planned ahead and brought food to cook in the house for dinner and breakfasts. I also got an amazing massage by a local therapist that comes to the house. . We will be back ! House is great!

The property was just as pictured on the website with 3 beautiful big bedrooms, pool room, living room, kitchen with a nice table which seats 8 people. The screened in porch off the kitchen is very nice next to a great hot tub. It is very private with very little traffic in the area but only 5 miles from downtown Galena.

Friends and I took a last minute, first time to Galena girls trip, so not much time to plan. We researched the best we could, and of course pictures can be deceiving, but this house turned out to be more than we expected and was even more beautiful in person!! Wonderful rooms and super comfortable king size beds! Had a few general questions plus a minor bathtub issue, and the property manager was super efficient and got back to us immediately, no matter the time of day! Wish we would of had better weather instead of horrible thunderstorms so that we could of enjoyed the scenery in the rocking chairs on the front porch and used the hot tub more, but the property manager was gracious enough to let us have a late check out so that we could use it the morning we left. The views were amazing and it was only a 10 minute ride to downtown Galena. We would definitely stay here again!!

another wonderful family vacation. I and my husband,our son and daughter-in-law and their 2 boys and my daughter and her little boy all had a great time. We've been coming to Galena for many years now knowing we will have a beautiful home and make great memories. Before we even leave the grandkids want to know when we're coming back. "Soon, I tell them". Thank you so much for all the help and always making this such a great time.

Seven grade school friends enjoyed this comfortable wood fire, nice kitchen/dining area and lovely bedrooms that made our stay so nice. A delicious carry-out meal from Fried Green made an easy meal for one of the nights.

Stayed at this house for our annual girls weekend this year. We had a total of 7 in our group and enjoyed the house very much! The house was totally clean, the beds and bedding were very comfortable. Out of the several houses I have stayed in, this was the best stocked kitchen! Everything provided was of a pretty good quality for a rental house. Loved the wood supply to keep a fire going throughout our cold nights. The hot tub was very nice bonus as well. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

This was our 7th trip to Galena, first stay at this house. As always, the stay was amazing. This house was such a delight! It effortlessly blends the rustic log cabin feel on the outside with the modern conveniences on the inside. There is so much living space, and the hot tub is easily accessible from the house. The house was clean, comfortable, and has everything you could want. The pool table was perfect! The hot tub was amazing especially after a day of skiing at Chestnut. We had an amazing dinner at The Generals Restaurant in the DeSoto House. And as always, rocked some Karaoke at Gobbies. We utilized both cab companies, and both were very nice and got us to and from safely! I would and do highly recommend this house and destination to everyone I know!!

The house is lovely and beds super comfortable. We had a great time. Some minor things that could be improved are: coffee pots need cleaned and descaled and master bath tub drain doesn’t work so it won’t hold water. Other than those small things, the house was clean and beautiful.
